Chewing with Dad: Lost Forty Brewing

Chewing with Dad

Lost Forty Brewing

(501) 319-7275

Located in the East Village of Little Rock since 2014.  Lost Forty has long been on my bucket list of brewery type dining establishments, so glad that the kids and I finally got a chance to try out their All Day Sunday Brunch.

Environment

Boyd:  Kinda big.  You don’t have your own separate table.  There’s a bar.  Two TVs.  Two arcade games.  A window to see where they make the beer.

Kennedy:  The interior was very home-y and it had a very welcoming vibe to anyone.  There were mostly long tables and a few bars.  There were string lights everywhere and a big window to the side that leads to where they make their beer.

James:  Large interior room with a view into the brewery.  Dining is at large shared tables.  There is also dining at the bar.  There are a couple televisions and arcade games.

Attendance

Boyd:  They came to our table 3 or 4 times.

Kennedy:  The service was very nice and came to check on us many times.  The food came out pretty quickly.

James:  The staff were very attentive and did a great job with whatever we wanted.

Chew

Glazed Donut Holes
6 Donut Holes with Vanilla and Chocolate Glaze, served with Barnhill Orchard (AR) Strawberry Sauce

Boyd:  Really good waffles with the syrup.  The donut holes are kinda good.

Buttermilk Waffle
House-Made Buttermilk Waffle served with a side of Whipped Butter

Kennedy:  We had little donuts that were very hot and delicious.  I had a ham and cheese omelette.  It was pretty good and it came with potatoes and molasses bread with some tasty jelly.  The ham was a little salty, but over all the meal was very good.

Ham & Cheddar Omelet
Grass Roots Co-Op (AR) Ham and Cheddar Omelet served with Skillet Potatoes and Spent Molasses Bread Toast with House-Made Jam

James:  Can’t say that I’ve had a BLT in years, but today it just sounded good.  Lost Forty’s version has me questioning why I don’t get them more often.  The Petit Jean bacon is so flavorful and the heirloom tomatoes brought the whole sandwich together.  Really glad I got this sandwich today.  I can also say that the donut holes with the strawberry sauce were worth the trip.  Simply delicious!  The waffles and omelet were delicious as well.

Arkansas Heirloom BLT
Petit Jean Bacon (AR), Arkansas Tomatoes, Arkansas Green Leaf Lettuce, Duke’s Mayonnaise and house-Made Deviled Mayo on Old Mill Bread (AR) Country Bread, Swartz Dill Pickle

Endorsement

Boyd:  I recommend coming back for the waffles.

Kennedy:  I would definitely recommend to people my age.

James:  As their Facebook says, ‘A MicroBrewery Deeply Rooted in Arkansas’, Lost Forty represents Arkansas well.  I totally enjoyed our experience and the food will have us back for more.

Chewing with Dad

I’ve had the idea for Chewing with Dad for some time.  Really was thinking of ways to become more interactive with Kennedy and Boyd and to help get us away from our phones while we are out.  Want us to be able to enjoy each other’s company as we discuss our adventures.  Then we write it all down.  We’ve defined an outline (although, I know it may change over time) of what we want this blog to look like.  The four main sections (Environment, Attendance, Chew and Endorsement) are discussed prior to getting where we are going, during the experience and afterwards.  I’m really looking forward to this process!  Who knew that Tip Top Chew would bring us closer as a family!
