Rebel Kettle BreweryLocated in the East Village of Little Rock which is just east of I-30 at the 6th street exit.  Rebel Kettle opened in 2013 and per their Facebook page is a craft brewery focused on specialty and small batch artisan beers.  Love their logo:  “Rebel at heart, Rebel in hand”.

Really cool outdoor dining.  Look forward to dining outside when it’s not so hot.  Heat is not my friend!

Pretty cool that you can see the brewery from the indoor dining area.

Attendance

Mary was great and made sure we were very happy.

She was even so gracious to chase me down in the parking lot when I left my credit card at the table!

Thanks Mary!

Brunch in Little Rock

mimosaSolo Mimosa

sweet potato biscuitSweet Potato Biscuits served with honey butter

Didn’t know what to expect when I ordered the Sweet Potato Biscuits and when they came out, they did not look like what I expected.  Not a fluffy biscuit that you get at most places, but a bit more flat.  Not really a big fan of Sweet Potatoes, so was a little worried, but couldn’t taste any.  This biscuit is a bit heavier and so tasty, especially when you add a little of the honey butter!

Pain Perdu | Shrimp and GritsPain Perdu – (aka Lost Bread, aka French Toast) with spicy maple syrup

Cheese Grits with Shrimp and Jalapenos

One of my favorite breakfast is French Toast.  Never heard of Pain Perdu, so glad they had the definition on the menu!  These were excellent.  Got the spicy maple syrup and for me, the heat kicked in well after you chewed and swallowed.  Time for the next bite!

Now the heat on the grits with the jalapenos kicked in with the first bite.  Not a connoisseur of savory grits and thought these where cut a little larger than I’m used to.  Still tasty, nonetheless.

Breakfast TacosBreakfast Tacos – 3 tacos, flour tortillas, BEAST chorizo, egg, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, drunken black beans

I like things a bit more spicy, so wishing there were a bit more of a ‘Mexican’ hot sauce or if the pico were a bit spicier.  The tortillas were so soft and went well with the eggs and chorizo.  Minus the heat, the Breakfast Tacos were simply delicious.

Endorsement

Kicking myself for not making it to Rebel Kettle before now.

Really enjoyed the setting and can’t wait till it cools off, so I can try out the Beer Garden.

The food and service were excellent, therefore I highly recommend the weekend brunch.

Tip Top Chew

tip top chew | chewing with dad

Hi!  I’m James, single dad of two awesome kids (Kennedy and Boyd), who sometimes join me in my journey of finding great places to dine.  I started Tip Top Chew as a hobby on Facebook back in 2015 and Instagram in early 2018.  It’s something I enjoy, even though others occasionally make fun of me when I break out the camera to take pictures of our food!  🙂

My goal with this blog, is to be able to share a bit more of my creative side while growing stronger relationships with my kids as we venture out and share together.  We’re starting a segment called Chewing with Dad in the hopes to get away from our phones and enjoy each other’s company a little more.  We discuss our adventures, then we write it all down and hopefully it turns into something worth reading.  I’m really looking forward to this process!
